Five Things You Need To Shine In The Music Industry
An Interview With Eden Gold at Authority Magazine

1 . Self-love is key. You are worth sharing your voice, and your story.

2 . Criticism is of the work, not of you. Even when people bash and don’t appreciate your songs, that’s their take and they are allowed to express it. Learn what you can and what makes sense, then keep writing and making tracks!

3 . Alignment is very important - don’t seek too much external validation but don’t be too overly personal - music making is about sharing and starting a dialogue.

4 . It’s a never-ending journey - of songwriting, receiving feedback, living life, and doing it again! Your ikigai. Every day will be different, but the key is to keep doing it because it brings you joy.

5 . Save a folder of all the words of encouragement to keep you in good spirits.

Music Meets Activism: Act To Change Releases Single with Artist Fiona Dawn

At Act To Change, we believe in the power of storytelling and that change begins when we amplify voices that challenge injustice and spark action. That’s why we’re proud to share our latest collaboration with singer-songwriter and activist Fiona Dawn, blending music and advocacy to ignite conversation around online harassment.

Fiona’s song aims to provoke thought about the weight of our lives online versus offline, and how we view our self-importance through the lens of both worlds. The pressure to be seen, validated, or accepted online can leave a lasting emotional impact. With vulnerable lyrics and bold energy, “ATTENTION” asks a timely question: What are we really chasing, and at what cost?

In Fiona’s podcast series “In Conversation With: Music & Activism”, Fiona shares how she overcame the fear of being online again after experiencing cyberbullying. She reflects on how support from Act To Change and The Slants Foundation’s Asian PaCIVICS music cohort helped her reconnect with music not just as art, but as a tool for healing and community.
